Terms and Conditions

1. Who we are

Affordable Pool and Spa, Inc., a Michigan corporation, servicing residential and commercial pools and spas.

2. Quotes and estimates

A quote lists the work and the price we expect. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless the quote says otherwise.

Pool and spa work sometimes uncovers problems that were not visible when we quoted — a failed part behind the one we came to replace, a leak beneath a deck, corrosion inside a heater. If the work needed changes, we will tell you before continuing and agree the change with you. We will not add charges you have not agreed to.

Where a quote depends on a part price, and that price changes before you approve, we may need to requote.

3. Approving work

You can approve a quote by signing it electronically through the link we send you, in writing, or by telling us directly. An electronic signature has the same effect as one on paper.

Deposits vary depending on the job. All jobs require special order parts to be paid for prior to ordering.

4. Scheduling and access

We will agree a date with you. Arrival times are estimates — earlier jobs can run long, and weather affects pool work.

For us to do the work you need to give us:

If we cannot get access when we arrive, or the equipment cannot be reached, we may have to reschedule and charge for the visit: a $95 trip charge applies to a visit we cannot complete because we could not get access.

5. Cancelling or rescheduling

Please give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or move a visit.

We may need to reschedule for weather or for a part that has not arrived. We will tell you as soon as we know.

6. Payment

Invoices are due upon completion of the job.

We accept cash or credit card.

Prices for parts and materials are as quoted at the time. Labor is charged as quoted, or at our current rate for time-and-materials work.

7. Our workmanship warranty

We warrant our workmanship for 1 year from the date the work is completed. If something we installed or repaired fails because of how we did the work, call us and we will come back and put it right at no charge for labor.

This warranty does not cover:

Equipment we supply carries the manufacturer's warranty, which is between you and the manufacturer. We will tell you what it is and help you use it.

8. Water chemistry and safety

Water chemistry changes constantly with weather, bather load and rainfall. Where we balance or test water, that reflects the condition at the time of our visit. Keeping water safe between visits is the owner's responsibility unless you are on a maintenance plan that says otherwise.

Pools and spas are dangerous. Supervision of anyone using your pool or spa, and compliance with fencing, cover, gate and alarm requirements, is the owner's responsibility. We are not responsible for accidents in or around your pool or spa.

9. Draining and winterizing

Draining a pool or spa carries real risks — a liner can shrink or float, a shell can lift out of the ground, and groundwater can cause structural damage. Where you ask us to drain, or where draining is necessary for the work, we will explain the risk. We are not liable for damage caused by draining that you asked for or agreed to.

Where we close or winterize a pool or spa, our work covers what is set out in the quote. Freeze damage to equipment we were not engaged to winterize, or that was already faulty, is not our responsibility.

10. Existing conditions

Pool and spa systems are often old and previously worked on by others. We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, for plumbing or wiring we did not install, or for failures elsewhere in a system that our work happens to reveal. Where we notice something worth telling you about, we will.

11. Photographs

We photograph work and equipment to keep a record and to show you what we found. We use these photographs for your service record and for training. We will not publish a photograph of your property in advertising or on social media without asking you first.

12. Our liability

We carry insurance and we stand behind our work. But to be clear about the limit: our total liability for any claim relating to a job is limited to what you paid us for that job, except where the law does not allow that limit — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

We are not liable for indirect losses such as lost income, the cost of alternative arrangements, or loss of use of your pool or spa.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Michigan consumer law.

13. Text messages and email

If you give us your mobile number and agree, we may text you about your job — quotes, invoices and scheduling. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Agreeing is optional and is never a condition of us doing the work. How we handle your number is set out in our Privacy Policy.

14. Your information

We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

15. Resolving a problem

Call us first on 810-422-5058. Most problems are a misunderstanding and we would rather fix it than argue about it. If we cannot agree, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, and any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of Genesee County, Michigan.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your job is the one published when you approved the work.
